It's the question that generally crops up fairly early on in the DMs as you're connecting with guys online.

On one hand, it's totally understandable - everyone wants to get a visual on who they're chatting with, but it can be a bit annoying if you've got a killer profile pic but you're being pressured to send something different.

Here at Gaydar, we've run the numbers, and what we've discovered is that the guys that get the best results - in terms of receiving attention from other members - are the guys that have numerous photos uploaded to their profile.

Perhaps that's not surprising, but it's reassuring to know that there is some reward for putting the effort into your photos.

While you don't need to upload loads of photos, regularly uploading a fresh photo or two is a great way to spark a conversation and initiate some contact with guys in your area.

Let them see every inch

While uploading photos of any kind will boost your performance on Gaydar, if you upload a couple of explicit photos then that turbo-charges the results in terms of guys winking at you and sliding in to your DMs.

You can control who gets to see your explicit photos, but what is clear that there is an appetite out there - guys are eager to see what you're working with.

There's lots of benefits of upgrading your Gaydar profile from the free version to the VIP version, not least of which is that going VIP unlocks explicit photos on the site.

If a profile has caught your attention and there's a purple egglant emoji on the thumbnail, that means that he's uploaded explicit photos and your VIP membership lets you admire him from every angle.
