Culture Watch: The Pleasure Is Mine

A film by Sacha Amaral, The Pleasure Is Mine (El Placer es Mio) gives us the story of Antonio (Max Suen) a young guy who uses his body to make his way through life.

Damaged by a volatile relationship with his mother, Antonio is seeking intimacy and financial security, but is perhaps too damaged to be able to hold on to either.

While Suen gives an engaging performance as Antonio, this is a fairly bleak character-study of a young queer guy trying to figure out life in an unforgiving world.

What we are left with is the sadness and disappointment of hurt people hurting people.

The Pleasure Is Mine is featured at Flare - London's LGBTQ film festival.
