Always open to new ways to enhance our masturbation, we caught up with Jason, the founder and CEO of Dr Tuggs, for a behind-the-scenes look at their Gentleman's Lotion.

Why was a masturbation lube something that you wanted to create?

Masturbation is something every guy does, but most men are still using random body lotion, cooking oils or going dry. I’ve always taken my solo time seriously - so much that I used to tell friends “If someone made a product that actually made jerking off better, I’d be their best customer.” 

But that never happened, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I set out to create something that actually delivers. A product that truly elevates the experience and makes it so once you try it, you’ll never go back.

Did you have a clear vision of what you wanted the lotion to feel like, or was that something that evolved during the development process?

I knew exactly what I wanted from the start. It had to be a lotion - something familiar and approachable - but engineered for performance. It needed to feel amazing, last long, rinse off easily, and be made with ingredients safe for your schlong.

Getting there wasn’t easy. It took four chemists, over 60 formulation rounds, and two years of obsessive testing before I finally landed on the one. And when I did, I knew.

How does Dr Tuggs differ from other masturbation lubes on the market?

There aren’t a ton of options out there, but the ones that do exist are either sticky, greasy, or packed with low-quality ingredients. Dr. Tuggs is different.

Ours is a performance-built lotion - made specifically to make jerking off better.

When you first discovered masturbation, what were you using for lubrication?

Whatever I could get my hands on, to be honest. Hand lotion, olive oil, spit - you name it. I feel like that’s most guys' stories when they’re just figuring it out.

It got the job done, but even then, I knew it could be way better.

What's your current relationship with masturbation?

It’s a key part of the daily routine. Honestly, that post-nut clarity helps me reset, clear my head and re-focus.

Some people meditate. I prefer a good tug and a cold shower.

Do you identify as a bator or a gooner or a solosexual - or something else?

I’ve always been a bator through and through.

Total respect for gooners and solosexuals, but ultimately it’s a personal thing. You’ve just got to try some things and figure out what works for you.

The branding of Dr Tuggs leans into a 19th century "travelling salesman" kind of vibe - why was that the creative direction you took with the product?

The old-school aesthetic just felt right. We took a lot of inspiration from retro men’s grooming brands and classic beer labels, and harnessed that energy to create branding that felt masculine, timeless and confident. 

Most sexual wellness brands either feel overly clinical or overly sexual, but we wanted to shift that perception. We wanted it to feel like something your dad would’ve trusted - if your dad was really into jerk-off lotion.

What does the future hold for Dr Tuggs?

Gentleman’s Lotion was just the beginning for us. Our Super Stroker toy launches soon with more fun products in the pipeline.
